Read where we lost more troops to that flu than in combat.
You need to be around people to develop immunity, though. There’s a story (true, I’m pretty sure) about a reclusive nun who stayed solitary for many years, and as soon as she came of seclusion, she died. As usual, can’t remember the details, name, etc.
Yep. And they brought it back home.................
I read that. I don't believe it. It came from somewhere...it's still lurking somewhere.
I’m with you. Kids are nothing but living petri dishes.
Who came up with smallpox? And who came up with the vaccine?
Two flaws in your reasoning. It is the strong immune system that killed many of the otherwise healthy victims of the Spanish flu. Google cytokine storm.
When a particularly virulent strain comes along there typically isnt ANY acquired immunity in the population. This is why the new strain is so virulent. The DNA and antigens in the new strain are truly novel and might show evidence of development in another species gene pool (birds or swine).
Re: “Pregnant women are the #1 priority for flu vaccination, according to the WHO.”
Because, if they die, they no longer qualify for abortions?
Catastrophic Pandemic PinGGG!..............
True..................
Would you happen to know if an immune overreaction is similar to an auto immune illness?
My great uncle and my grandfather both died of it. My mother was only one year old when her father died, so she never knew him. He was the president of the bartenders’ union and played the piano. His mother lived on Anarchist Alley and had a big photo of him on the wall, and when my mother went to visit, my great-grandmother would say, “This is your father. Don’t forget him.”
Cytokines play a role from what I have researched.
Autoimmune disease is ones own system causing inflammation.
There is a bunch of information online.
The Spanish Fly is Jewish? Oy.
My uncle died as a child from the Spanish Flu at the age of nearly 2 in 1919.
This fear mongering pops up every few years. 1918 is never going to happen unless we go back to millions crammed together on troop ships, houses with no indoor plumbing, and most being ignorant of basic sanitation. That’s why things like Ebola strike backwards regions but quickly die out in the 1st World.
We have a pandemic of hospital infections today. More Americans die from those than car accidents. But, it’s not cool to talk about that, I guess. Better to dwell on scary, exotic viruses.
Ready for the pandemic the illegals are bringing across the border.
