I think kek is lol in Korean. In the online game World of Warcraft, there was a chat feature. When conversing across factions (Alliance/Horde), LOL became "KEK". Kek is orcish for LOL.
Simple as that.
And this is true because I've seen it with my own gnomish rogue's eyes.
I was a cute little gnome, I must say.
