Not exactly related to your post, but "Hollyweird"-related. Caught this on the news this morning and just looked it up.
"The Masked Singer is an upcoming reality competition series to consist of 10 episodes set to air on Fox on January 2, 2019. Hosted by Nick Cannon, the show will feature celebrities singing in a head-to-toe costume and face mask which conceals their identities from other contestants, the panelists, and the audience."
Where have we seen things like this before?
Can everyone say "Mainstreaming"?
Holy cow! I wondered what was going on with this show. I saw an ad for it on TV with some of the clips and these outfits. I stood in front of the TV with my mouth hanging open. Man, these derps are really pushing it. And amazingly, seeing these images would have meant nothing to me about 120 months ago.
May The Lord have mercy on us all.
Unbelievable disgusting and macabre. What’s next, Spirit Cooking gear?
GMTA.
That was my immediate reaction when I saw the ad for this show.
I believe you are correct about them trying to mainstream their perversion.
Notice the white rabbit and at least one with horns.
IIRC, the ad I saw had several horned costumes and several very very creepy costumes.
Of course “The Masked Singer” is demonic.
Do we have a pattern?
Fox was the same network that featured “Lucifer.”
Regrettably I would have to add “Gotham” to this list, as many of its characters have died and come back to life through weird science.
I’m guessing there are more.

Sounds exactly like the old Masquerade Party tv program from the 50’s. A panel asked questions and then guessed at the identity. I’m assuming that a masked singer sings and then the panel tries to figure out who they are.
Along those same lines were the tv programs I’ve Got A Secret, and What’s My Line.
