In a moment one could imagine as a harrowing scene straight out of Disney’s “The Lion King,” footage shared by BBC Earth recently captured a lion’s intense struggle to fend off more than 20 hyenas.The lion, named Red, appears to unknowingly venture into a hyena territory -- a move that could have easily ended in his demise.

All of the non human natural world, be it rock, tree, or in this case, hyenas are a kind of metaphor about humankind. There are people like hyenas by nature. We’ve all seen them. Think of gangs. There are people like pigs. Think of feral druggies. There are people like sheep. Think of easily led types. People like Crocodiles. Think of psychopaths. etc etc. Every possible variant of human nature and behaviour presaged in nature.

I hate hyenas. worst animal ever
Hehehe... I guess that means in the human world the Hyenas are called Rats and RINO's.
Hyenas kill plenty of animals on their own. Lions are just as much “scavengers” as they are. I have a book by Hans Kruk, a Hyena researcher and it’s excellent.

Notice in the video the lion spends much of the time fighting while sitting down. The hyena tactic is to come up from behind and castrate the lion. With two lions able to guard each others backs, that doesn’t work.
Lions are only kings of the predators. Elephants outrank everything, aside from motorized humans. If a bull elephant is in musth, even being on a vehicle can be risky for people.
Zebras are reactionaries
Antelopes are missionaries
Pigeons plot in secrecy
And hamsters turn on frequently
Love that footage. I’ve seen another of a male lion that hated hyenas and went out of his way to kill them.
Amazing how fast those male lion are when they want to be.
Truly king of beasts.
