I may be misinformed, but I've read that we now have the technology and ability to determine where a radioactive isotope is processed into weapons grade. Too bad for the nation that lets such fall into the hands of ISIS or other.

So, we not only have Tridents, and satellite detection with hardened bunkers (even the President's), we would know where a dirty bomb or suitcase nuke fuel came from pretty quickly. That's also no big secret to anyone thinking nuclear attack.

Just read while researching nuke detection that the Port of Los Angeles installed in 2017 a new radiation detecting conveyor system that ALL containers pass through. Sure there are more planned in other major ports.

I'm sorry to read so much here that implies our military nuke experts are so dimwitted.

The fact that there hasn’t been a nuclear attack on our soil goes to show they are pretty smart.

I read that many years ago, as well, which meant that if a random nuke exploded in the US we would know where it came from. Worryingly, though, it has been posited that the purpose of the U1 deal was to get uranium to Russia that would be distributed to other players so that we might not know where it came from if one happens to explode in the US. I hope such is not the case.
