THE FINAL SATURDAY. College footballs final regular season all comes down to this: a weekend full of postseason games. What? Yeah, its a weird sport!
Now that every FBS conference has a title game, we have a mostly tidy schedule, along with some rando loosies left over from postponements earlier in the season and so forth. The FCS playoffs also really get rolling, with seeded teams joining festivities.
Below, the Watch Grid attempts to sort your Saturday by watchability, a scientific metric not specifically related to how good your team is, because your team is too good for science to understand.

If UGA beats ‘Bama, there’s no option, there will be 2 SEC teams in, deservedly so.
‘Bama will win. They’re in no matter what.
Clemson will beat Pitt. It is college, anything can happen, but a Pitt win would be more than surprising.
ND is in.
OU should beat Texas. Style points matter, so they’re going to have to lay it on them.
OSU is an enigma, and this is one of those games that causes concern. When the Buckeyes are clear favorites, it looks like the kids take the attitude that they just have to show up, and they’ll win. NU isn’t great, but they are scrappy and well coached. If OSU doesn’t come to play, they could lose this one, (see: Purdue).
My prediction, which isn’t worth the electrons used to make up this post, OSU wins a squeaker.
That means:
‘Bama
Clemson
ND
OU
Sorry Buckeyes, don’t get blown out, and you will get to join the party. Not that it matters, this is all just to see who gets to lose to Alabama. I give the devil his due.
I can’t disagree with the championship game, as in all likelihood it will be Alabama vs. Clemson; there is an off-chance it will be Alabama vs. Notre Dame. I don’t see Oklahoma beating any of the other top four teams, as its defense is abysmal.
What if Clemson and OU lose?
“What if Clemson and OU lose?”
That’s a mess. But it’s highly unlikely.
If Clemson loses, due to their schedule, they’re probably out. If OU loses too, then the committee will be twisting in knots trying to figure out how to keep UCF out.
Championship weekend starts tonight. #17 Utah visits #11 Washington.
I think Bama and Georgia will be nip and tuck at the half, then Bama walks away with is.
Bama hasn’t had a close game all year. Clemson usually plays them tough though.
I see final four as:
“Bama for sure
Clemson
ND
OU
‘Bama, my team, wins again in the end...
If things continue as they have been the only football game I will see this year is Army-Navy on the 8th.
I’m ok with that.
What if Bama is upset?
I think it will be close the first half, maybe with Bama down. If they lose, I think they still limp into the final four.
Georgia
Bama
Clemson
OU
My alma mater AppState plays the Ragin Cajuns for the first Sun Belt championship.
Virginia Tech plays Marshall for a chance to extend the longest active bowl streak in the NCAA. It doesn’t look good for the Hokies.
Regarding Washington making playoffs ....
“So you’re saying there’s a chance ....”
The Championships started last week, the final eight are playing today for the trip to the NCAA Div1 Football Championship.
WA needed to win in a rout. Now, they cannot leapfrog a 2-loss Georgia.
Commies would hafta decide between 1-loss Clem & 2-loss GA.
For fourth spot
Halftime at Jerry’s World. I am shocked to see some defense in a Big 12 = 10 game. The game is trending to go under on the 80 over\under.
Georgia giving this game away.
If the Buckeyes win, might the Irish be left out? 538 would have ahead of the Buckeyes by only the slightest margin, OK now more favored than either.
I think it is more a case of Alabama refusing to lose.
