I’ve noticed others in Maine seems pretty committed to keeping racist language in vogue.

Wetback is the term I grew up with. And mother using it was compassionate toward such folks.

I think the political correctness bunch “nudged”* us away from it because it is so very descriptive, and all too often true - especially in Texas along the Rio Grande where they literally swim (or wade) the Rio Grande.

*One of Cess Sunstein’s favorite words for control of the masses

For the record, I hate that word. It, like the "n" word, says much more about the person who uses it than its intended subject.
