He did....................
It was a prop plane.
he wrote the best song about West virignia
Is this the song Barbara Streisand hears in her head every election year? And she “Can’t get it out of her head” by ELO?
A minor Detail................
All the stars do!
John Denver and Roy Orbison: my co-pilots some 20-30 years ago whenever I drove anywhere.
Linday Rondstadt too, until I found out she was a liberal nut-job. Still like her singing, but not a supporter.
Yes, I LOVE that song. We almost vacationed to West Virginia this year, as I could not get that song our of my head for weeks in the spring. We did end up vacationing in Virginia....
Yep, and forgetting to switch to his second fuel tank did him in. Apparently his plane didn’t glide very well.
I saw him once in the late 1980s in Madison, WI.
Fan since he first was on the radio.
He died on my birthday, which was extra sad for me.
He had a lot more years of song writing ahead of him.
Too bad he was careless about that experimental plane.
Four J-79 engines. Fifteen thousand horsepower each.
The four engines on the B-29 bomber were 2200 hp each.
More likely the song she sings to us every time there is an election.
I will always remember "Annie's Song" because that was the song playing on the car radio when the DJ broke in and announced that Richard Nixon was resigning that night. I was only 11 years old at the time so it was quite a shock to hear that the president was resigning.
Love John Denver’s music. He had so many great ones.
One of my cousins on my father’s side went to high school with Henry Deutchendorf, Jr. In 1956, his father was chosen to head the AF Test Pilot School and Edwards and played a later role with the NASA/AF astronaut program.
I was asked once which musician who died young to bring back to life and continue their works. I chose John Denver.
