Once they understand that their fantasy is impossible, they take to the streets.

Then they attack newly elected officials and conservatives. Bombings. Antifa militias team with Black Lives Matter and hold parts of certain cities. Terrorism. With Congress adjourned and afraid to meet outside the confines of a military base, Trump:
Hitler! Fascism! UN, please declare the US government illegitimate and send a world army here to depose it!
And then the military tribunals begin.

Publius, as bad as it is, I don't think things are anywhere near as "Hot" (yet) as they were in the years immediately prior to the War of American Independence or the Civil War.
Hence, I do not believe your scenario will develop in 2019. Maybe in POTUS' second term.
My "Parade of horrors" scenario also involves the RATS actively engaging with China as a fifth column in an intelligence war/low-intensity hot war against America.
