Hello Freepers....!
....LOTS of threads about the mass of illegal immigrants headed our way...as of this morning the numbers are estimated at between 5,000 to 10,000 men women and children. We can assume that this number will grow.
Now, we can also assume that Mexico is not going to be of much help here...and will leave this event for the United States to 'clean up'.
So, they are coming....they will soon be at the boarder...and they will not just 'stop' voluntarily....
What CAN be done to keep this from becoming a nightmare scenario??
Please be civil...and make your thoughts known.
Please no (shoot them all)....(burn them all)...regardless of how you 'feel' try and come up with a WORKABLE solution.
Do not be intellectually lazy... like saying (.....dude...I would put the military at the boarder and just stop them....)
...ok, how? Shoot them....? Yell at them to stop?....Arrest 10,0000 people? ....and put them where? For how long?
Perhaps we can brainstorm together and offer some real solutions .....
Lets make this a thread that offers real possible answers

I like your first two paragraphs. Cutting off all commerce might mean a big financial hit for the US as well, but it would be a temporary one and have an impact.
I can’t think of much else that can be done as quickly to impact the countries colluding in this as witholding *money* can.

You are probably right, and I can see why it would be difficult. It just doesn’t seem right that we have to let them in to file their claim, and then we can’t get them out.

Seems you don’t like the conservative people here. And you could never even attempt to counter my 3 simple points to eliminate the criminal trespasser invasion.
1) Zero taxpayer benefits for ANY reason to anyone illegally entering the USA.
2) $100,000 fine per criminal trespasser employed by ANY business. No Exceptions
3) Eliminate the anti-American Anchor Baby scam.
How 'bout if the orders are to aim for the men?

Nope. With the current political mindset backed up with too many Leftist Liberal Judges we cannot afford for them to set a single foot on the US side of the line.
Lock down the border. As in, no-one-gets-in. AT ALL.
No trucks. No cars. No business related vehicles at all.
Recall the military, ASAP.
Use the monies that would have gone to any countries south of the border, including Mexico, for funding the ICE and Border Patrol.
And run ad after ad after ad about them coming, with them burning the flags, list in black and white the various crimes committed by illegals. Show ads with the Dems saying, ‘believe women,’ then show the massive amount of male invaders on their way and follow that up with the Dems calls for violence against people who disagree with them.
And run those ads over and over again. Spend some serious money on these ads. The Republicans have it.
And back to the border question: Yep. Completely close the border. And start rounding up illegals not in camps and ship them back out ASAP.
Looks like Fort Hood and 1CD are closer (and they’re not very close). We have some stuff in San Antonio, but nothing tailored for that kind of mission.

The President could use the Army to secure the southern border from an advancing caravan of foreigners intent on illegally entering the country. This would not be "law enforcement," as these are people not already in the country, and who are determined to bypass border security and lawful entry procedures.
Should this caravan succeed in breaking border control and massively enter the country as a mob, the military can be used to protect against the domestic violence that will ensue.
If there are any post-mid-term election riots, or if the advancing caravan breaks through the border and incites riot, the President could use the Army to quell the riots because Congress would be in recess, or he can use his Article II Section 3 power to convene Congress immediately into an "extraordinary occasions" session to have Congress formally appeal to the President to deploy the military to quell domestic riots.

You are saying the regular army cannot be used inside the US? What if the Russians or Chicoms attack us? Are we supposed to defend the country against a legitimate military force with our “assault rifles”? I believe the military can be used to defend our land against an invasion, just not for policing unless under martial law.

President Trump is on the correct path. This morning he announced that he will make good on his threat to cut aid to Honduras and Guatemala.
Next up is to prohibit remittances (wire transfers) of funds from the US to Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico.
Then he does have every right in the world to send the military to the border to prevent an invasion. I imagine since he keeps his promises that we’ll see this occurring sometime soon.

Arresting and deporting illegal aliens is a domestic law enforcement activity.
If POTUS declares Martial Law, then the Army can perform domestic peace-keeping functions. But Martial Law has not been declared, so Posse Comitatus still applies.

The OP of this post basically was looking for realistic and saner options here because FR is just full of too many hotheads giving nothing but hyperbolic nonsense.
