Pres Trump shares East Room stage with Sergeant Major John L Canley, USMC (Ret.), recipient of today's Medal of Honor, for conspicuous valor under fire, coming to the aid of fellow Marines, in 1968 during the Vietnam War.

During the Tet Offensive in Vietnam, Sgt Major Canley "risked his own life to save the lives of those under his command," said Pres Trump, recounting Canley's bravery meriting the Medal of Honor.

A couple that brought smiles were from classmates at the military school. He had quite a reputation. Supposedly if there was a prank on campus he was the first one called in. If he wasn’t responsible for initiating it, he knew who was. The word FUN was used repeatedly by both the cadets and the staff.
He also was known to stand up for “the little/younger guys”. Many of them are still loving friends.
During his senior year he served one semester as top officer elected by staff and the other semester by fellow cadets. “A born leader”.

Contrary to what we’ve been told, he tried four times to join the military. His record are available. The first three he was given an 1F. deferment for a foot injury (the same injury that kept him from big league baseball). On the fourth they gave him an 4F ending any hope of military service. He truly has always admired the military and veterans and wanted to be a part -— Now he is: Commander in Chief!

Dad comes home with a pizza for his kid.
Dad has a ball cap on that says #1 Dad.

The kid asks him if he did this that or the other thing regarding the pizza.

Dad sadly shakes his head,
The kid reaches up and tears off the #1 Dad patch on the Dads hat and throws it across the room!

I was FURIOUS!
If that had been my kid, he would have been sleeping on his belly that night!
Wish I could remember what pizza the ad was for!
