Golfers in St. Petersburg, Florida, were shocked when they saw a massive rattlesnake slither across the course.
Logan Ungerer and some friends were golfing at Mangrove Bay Golf Course on Columbus Day when Ungerer saw what looked like a stick blowing in the wind on the green, according to Fox 13.
Upon closer inspection, he realized it wasnt a stick at all it was a snake.
The creature was likely a diamondback rattlesnake, David Steen, a conservation biologist, told the Tampa Bay Times. Diamondbacks are said to be the largest venomous snake in North America, reaching up to eight feet in length, National Geographic reports.
Steen called the sighting unusual.
"Snakes are typically secretive creatures that have nothing to gain from interacting with people, so it is unusual for a snake like this to be found in the open on a golf course," Steen said. "It is likely that the rattlesnake was simply observed while traveling from one forest patch to another."

I take it you are being sarcastic.
At one time the only rattlesnake meat cannery in the U.S. was located in Tampa.
*sigh* Never.
Did anyone hit it with a mashie?
Holding a phone vertically to photograph a horizontal snake gives you the wrong asp-pect ratio.
Try the veal...
Just this Tuesday afternoon, two days after 4" of snow, I was getting out of the company suburban. Left foot on the ground when I heard it start "singing". Hadn't heard that all summer and I about tore my knee up getting everything back into that vehicle. My estimate was my leg was about 6" or so outside its strike zone. Got my attention for sure.
He is a keepin an eye on you mister.
Facing directly at the guy with his head raised.
That pisses me off too. It's like watching a movie on a 1980s television set
“I asked a snake whats 2 + 2? He said 3. I knew right then he wasnt an adder.”
Fangs alot for the chuckle.
Lol! Welcome to the family.
Its.....what I do.
Snake skin shoes baby, put em on your feet. Got the good times boogie and the book diddly beat
My son, our dog and I were hiking at Windy Hill on the SF Peninsula a couple days ago. Had one crossing the trail in front of us...we pulled up maybe 15 feet from it. I guess we were scanning too much toward our feet. Need to work in my situational awareness and look farther down the trail. Good thing our pup didn’t lunge toward it and start barking his head off.
Looked like a small one, only about four feet long.
Will you be back tomorrow night? Can’t wait. Great show!
Noah was unloading the ark. A pair of snakes came down the plank and Noah said, “Go forth and multiply.” “We can’t,” replied one snake, “We’re adders.” Noah told them to move aside and he would deal with them later. After the ark was unloaded, Noah called for the snakes. The two crawled out of some timber and approached Noah with some baby snakes. “I thought you were adders and couldn’t multiply,” Noah remarked. “We used logs,” said the papa snake.
“My estimate was my leg was about 6” or so outside its strike zone.”
Close encounter of the worst kind!
Beautiful snake!
LOL! OK, you can join the club!
And it “attacked” no one.
Go figure.
