DNA is a powerful tool that has revolutionized geneology. I added 200 years to my family tree.
Now it’s being used to track down criminals. I’m good with that.
Depends on your definition of a ‘criminal’ and remember that cops in the UK are policing social media for harsh language about Moslems.
My sister did the DNA thing for the purpose of Geneology and yes it did add to the family tree but. Just about two months ago I got an e-mail from a lady who wanted to know some questions about my Grandfather. She tracks DNA for clients and said I have the same DNA as another gentleman. It seems my grand father was quite the rounder while he was in the ARMY. This whole thing caught me by surprise since I never took a DNA test. So just to let anybody reading this know, if anybody in you family took a DNA test your DNA is already out there.

The problem is, in the future, criminal could be owning a gun, going to the wrong church, or criticizing the wrong person.
We had my twin daughters’ DNA tested. One was having medical problems. It was cheaper to see if they were identical twins than having other tests. They are identical. It was worth it for us.

Well yes some positives.
But there is also a 100% chance governmental entities will use it for evil as well.
Yeah! They can use this to lock up the Islamophobes, the transphobes, the climate deniers and other people who do not deserve to live. /s
It is truly fascinating and may one day help to get humans off this racial thing. I choose to see the good in new tech first, then worry. I will be praying that my decision to do this for one child won’t come back to harm them.
And everybody else. Don’t kid yourself, the primary use for DNA data has NOTHING to do with genealogy or criminal law. It’s all about medication. They figure out why some people don’t get the flu and make the brand new, 100% effective, very very expensive super vaccine. And the great part is they can even copyright YOUR genetic code.
Criminals.
That word does not mean what you think it does.
