Pentagon research project called "Insect Allies." Funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the project involves using gene-editing techniques like CRISPR to infect insects with modified viruses that could help make America's crops more resilient. If a cornfield were hit by an unexpected drought or suddenly exposed to a pathogen, for example, Insect Allies might deploy an army of aphids carrying a genetically modified virus to slow the corn plant's growth rate.
According to the DARPA website, these "targeted therapies" could take effect in a single growing season, potentially protecting the American crop system from food security threats like disease, flooding, frost and even "threats introduced by state or non-state actors.
Insect Allies, is less concerned. "Anytime you're developing a new and revolutionary technology, there is that potential for [both offensive and defensive] capability," Bextine told The Washington Post. "But that is not what we are doing. We are delivering positive traits to plants We want to make sure we ensure food security, because food security is national security in our eyes."
Insect Allies is still in the early stages of development, and at least four U.S. colleges (Boyce Thompson Institute, Penn State University, The Ohio State University and the University of Texas at Austin)have received funding to carry out research. Bextine told The Washington Post that the project recently achieved its first milestone testing whether an aphid could infect a stalk of corn with a designer virus that caused fluorescence. According to the Washington Post, "the corn glowed."

I think you should have the x-rays!
Your new shoes are really cute. Mine are plain matte black. Do they fit?
Absolutely true, Darks. The communists want the NWO and have been setting things in place for 100 years, and that includes subverting and sabotaging our electronics.
The Soviet Union just went underground to gain strength, and that was when the Berlin wall came down. The UN is a useful tool in the undermining of America.
(I hope I don’t hear Black Helicopters in the near future...)
That’s all I’m saying for now... :looking over shoulder...:
Yes indeed, the shoes fit! They add about 1-1/4” to my height, but since I’ve lost that with the wear and tear on my joints over the years (I was 5’10” when I was 16!) I can use a little more!
There was a pair called “Petrol” that is black and looks like a rainbow oil slick on a puddle, but they were almost $150 and I said, “Eeep!”
I’ll see how I feel after my second morphine, and decide then whether to get the x-rays today or tomorrow. I try not to push myself because CFIDS is such an ugly task master.
I’m going to have a shower.
My shower was exceptionally satisfying this morning. I’m so very grateful for hot water!! I had enough cold showers in Henderson to last me a lifetime. :o]
*tagline*
I ran out of energy. I took some trash out, found some yarn I think I want to make a stole out of, and just kind of keeled over.
When I took the trash out, Snarly was on the lawn, and he snarled and growled and snarled some more. He’s had a trim, but he is favoring his left front paw. He’s a cute little dog now that he’s clean and not so shaggy. But he’s still got a bad attitude. I spoke to him in a soft, pleasant voice, and the response was not just a snarl but a snap and a bark. Poor little guy.
I finished the last of the “Midsomer Murders,” but it will be tomorrow before I take them back. My biggest fear on days like this is that I’ll get distracted and have an accident while I’m behind the wheel.
Is kitteh laughing or is that somewhere along the continuum of a hiss?
G’orning, y’all!
Thanks for posting. I ran across an article about Huawei but didn’t read it because I probably wouldn’t have known what they were talking about. This at least gives it some context.
Hello, everyone. Better nate than lever, I guess.
I guess.
It's Microsoft, so you can trust it.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH!
Sorry, that's all the longer I could keep a straight face.
HAH! Umm..no thanks. I’m going to be changing my OS very soon because I’m extremely tired of the MS “upgrades” that do nothing but destroy the innards of every computer I’ve ever owned. I don’t have the money to keep buying new computers every year or two.
I suspect its afternoon where you are, so good afternoon! :o])
Rescue kitten, so I think it’s a needy “Mew!”
Afternoon. For our next thing, we’re going on the exercise excursion.
I wish I had felt like an exercise excursion this morning. As it is, I’m trying to hold on for another hour so I can go to bed.
The last two days have been overcast, and I don’t know how much longer I can go without that light box. I think the overcast is what has messed me up today.
The SAD seems to be getting worse, now, and all those years in the desert sunshine have been for nothing...wahhh.

This should cheer you up: a clever item from your Senator, Mike Lee.
That was cute! Thanks!
Now, I’m going to bed. It’s been a day and I need to get parallel to the deck so I can have another one tomorrow!
Ta!
