No, but thanks for the heads up. I have Cox as well, been thinking about cancelling them, and would also appreciate any suggestions.

I’d go ROKU with Direct TV NOW sub for basic cable channels.

My biggest worry is that my Internet bill is going to go up (again)...unfortunately in my area there really aren’t any other alternatives for high speed access.

Get a roof antenna, get a Roku, Chrome, or Amazon Fire Stick and your ready to go. Then you can subscribe to Amazon, Netflix, or Hulu, you will get YouTube which has plenty on and other options that are a lot cheaper.

I did the same back in January and I don’t miss any of it and wow the money I am saving, $3200 this year.

We have Fios 50/50 for $45 and Hulu live for $39...never looked back. Have sports, movies, fox, etc. Don’t muss cable one bit.

I suggest books, board and card games, gardening, and activities doing things together with living people.

Anyone who still pays for cable is not paying attention. Your money goes to fund leftists. I have heard every excuse in the book: it’s for the kids or for granny. Really? You want to fund leftists and rot your kids’ brains? Or, “I only watch XYZ”. It does not matter what you watch, you are funding the leftists.

The minute you call to cancel they will make you many deeply discounted offers to stay. Happened to us.

We’re Fios now and they are just as bad. We like dish but it’s fickle due to weather.

You can get individual shows for about $3 bucks a show now on some websites. So, if you’re not a big tv watcher, that’s they way to go for paid content.

Get a solid antenna and don’t look back. Get Hulu or Amazon Prime for on-demand programming.

Antenna for local free broadcast channels. Amazon fire stick, Sling for sports, Netflix. That about covers it.

We cut our cable, share Netflix with GD, have a few channels on antenna. We watch a lot of youtube, hunting and archeology. I has been several months and we, mostly, haven’t missed it.

Also, you could be offered a package of basic cable plus Internet for the same price as Internet. You get on-demand access to Cox show access for those networks, along with direct program access on each television station’s website for the past couple weeks.

Sure people say cut the cord, use an antenna for the local digital TV, ROKU, HULU ad nauseum. Gotta have broadband somehow from some carrier to stream. You might find yourself sticking with the same carrier but only to provide the broadband without the TV. Ask me how I know.

Why is it necessary to announce on FR that you're cancelling your cable TV account?

I cancelled my TV account 2 years ago but didn't write a vanity to let everyone know.

Buy a ROKU stick for $40 and plug it into your HTML port (or if you have a smart TV, it is built-in) on the back of the TV and sign up for Netflix and/or other internet streaming services for your content, depending on what kind of programming you like. Netflix is $11 a month, Hulu is $10 month, etc.
