I live an hour from Abilene, TX which is where Ashley Kavanaugh’s family is. Saw on Facebook that she is asking friends and family to pay Psalm 40 over Brett and their family for the next 2 days. Don’t know her family but my friends do.

Printed out Psalm 40 from the Catholic bible...will pray it for the Kav family.

Thank goodness the pope hasn’t rewritten our bible, YET!

Psalm 40

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.

He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.

Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!

You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you!
I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.

In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear.
Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required.

Then I said, “Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me:

I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”

I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; behold, I have not restrained my lips, as you know, O Lord.

I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation.

As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me!

For evils have encompassed me beyond number; my iniquities have overtaken me, and I cannot see;
they are more than the hairs of my head; my heart fails me.

Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help me!

Let those be put to shame and disappointed altogether who seek to snatch away my life; let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt!

Let those be appalled because of their shame who say to me, “Aha, Aha!”

But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the Lord!”

As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God!

Psalm 91 would also be appropriate for this circumstance.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge— no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.

When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

If Ashley Kavanaugh asks for PSALM 40, let’s give it to her and pray PSALM 40! All day long.

Thx for passing that along!

Psalm 40

[1] Unto the end, a psalm for David himself. [2] Blessed is he that understandeth concerning the needy and the poor: the Lord will deliver him in the evil day. [3] The Lord preserve him and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth: and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies. [4] The Lord help him on his bed of sorrow: thou hast turned all his couch in his sickness. [5] I said: O Lord, be thou merciful to me: heal my soul, for I have sinned against thee.

[6] My enemies have spoken evils against me: when shall he die and his name perish? [7] And if he came in to see me, he spoke vain things: his heart gathered together iniquity to itself. He went out and spoke to the same purpose. [8] All my enemies whispered together against me: they devised evils to me. [9] They determined against me an unjust word: shall he that sleepeth rise again no more? [10] For even the man of peace, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, hath greatly supplanted me.

[11] But thou, O Lord, have mercy on me, and raise me up again: and I will requite them. [12] By this I know, that thou hast had a good will for me: because my enemy shall not rejoice over me. [13] But thou hast upheld me by reason of my innocence: and hast established me in thy sight for ever. [14] Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel from eternity to eternity. So be it. So be it.
