I think the vote is still scheduled for tomorrow. I think Grassley will do a little speech like “Whereas we offered this, and whereas we offered that, and whereas we offered the other thing, and the nasty woman continues to stonewall, therefore let it be resolved that we’re just going to go ahead and vote.” That’s what I’m hoping for.

If not, don’t blame Grassley so much, it’s that witch Murkowski that said she couldn’t vote for Kavanaugh without hearing from the nasty.

Let me refer you to this post of mine yesterday [and previously]:
as I said a week or so ago: IF - when Blumenthal called for adjournment of the committee during the hearings circus - Grassley had asked him to confirm his motion, and Blumenthal had affirmed same, Grassley could have called for a vote right then followed by adjournment of the hearings. The Dems would have demanded it! ...and gotten their way (arguably).

Such a ploy might have required a bit of bending of the rules, but WHO is bending the rules now in this proceeding? Grassley could have had the public gallery cleared in order to restore order in the hearings; he could have required that all visitors to the gallery carry invitations from committee members, thus all disruptors, when removed, would carry evidence of what committee members put them up to such rotten tactics. Can anyone on our side ever play hard ball in return?

It's only about delaying and stalling, they hopped they could delay until midterms. Also hopping it gives them ammunition to fire up the base in midterms?

Concerning Christina Blasey Ford and her so called fear of flying...
If she has used air travel in the past there would be expense reports and travel reports related to her job. You would think a important professor would be well traveled. Ms. Ford would also have fellow workers or travel companions that could testify to her use of air travel. Match up travel dates to and from destinations to prove she couldn’t get there in such amount of time by land travel.
Does she have a US Passport? What countries did she travel to? Expense reports? Travel reports?

It is true that Grassley does not bear all the blame (e.g. see this posting of mine.)

However, if the accuser is to be afforded time on Thursday [presuming that she shows], how can the Senate take a vote on Kavanaugh before she is heard? As you say, Murkowski demands otherwise. Of course it is problematical that Murkowski will vote to accept the nomination in the outset anyway. This is what it means to support the GOP: a house built on sand, while the Democraps demand that their members vote in lockstep - or else. sigh

At this point it appears doubtful that Kavanaugh will be seated on SCOTUS at the beginning of its session. I will be ecstatic if Grassley / GOP proves me wrong!

Yes, I am a bit guilty of being imprecise - but Murkowski's vote is needed for the full Senate to approve the nomination - unless one or two Dems defy their party's demands.
