The Handmaid's Tale' protesters target Kavanaugh originally appeared on abcnews.go.com
As Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh took his seat Tuesday before senators ready to scrutinize his stance on abortion, a group of women stood in silent protest outside the judge's confirmation hearing room, dressed in floor-length red gowns and white bonnets to reflect the Dystopian threat of "The Handmaid's Tale."
About 15 women lined the balconies overlooking the entrance to Senate office building. Their costumes, coupled with their silence, were meant to carry an ominous message from Margaret Atwood's novel-turned Hulu miniseries about a world devoid of basic human rights for women. The protest was organized by the liberal advocacy group Demand Justice, which strongly opposes Kavanaugh's confirmation because of his previous decisions on abortion and health care as a U.S. Court of Appeals judge.
"We are fighting Brett Kavanaughs nomination because he represents the greatest threat to the right to legal abortion since Roe was decided. Already in America, the right to abortion is under attack, putting access out of reach for far too many women, especially low-income women and women of color. Brett Kavanaugh would take our current reality and make it worsemuch worse," Lori Lodes, an advisor with Demand Justice, wrote in a statement to ABC News.

Sheeeesh I can hardly wait to see how crazy things will get for Trump’s next pick (or the one after that).
Here is an elevator of them. Love their shoes. Shouldn't they be barefoot per the meme?
Of all the idiocy going in 2018 (and there’s a lot of it), this Handmaid’s Tale idiocy has got to rank at or near the top. The effort to imagine a society in which abortion is illegal as some kind of weird, futuristic totalitarian dystopia is so asinine, I don’t know where to begin. Let’s consider a real society where abortion was illegal... like most of the U.S.A. circa 1965. It’s crazy that some of these fools think that the idea of protecting the unborn with murder is so outlandish that they associate it with a futuristic dystopia rather the reality was the illegal abortion actually existed in the not-so-long-ago, not-so bad past.
They all want to be impregnated by Obama. Even the women.
You mean the ones whomare proteting islam?
You know, sexual subjugation of women and covering them up?
You (they) mean they don’t have enough of the courage of their own convictions to protest as legitimate voters? They have to pick a vile, dystopian fiction as the illustration of the reason for their protest? Amirite?
The problem is, she doesnt see that shes representing islam.
Handmaid costumes. How cute. Halloween came early this year. Here, kid. Have some fried chicken embryos and beer. Or stapler or something.
I read that book many years ago. It depicted a U.S. nothing like the one we are in that had some sort of illness cause most women to be infertile and the culture created workarounds.
What does that have to do with anything today? What’s with the costumes?
Blessed be the fruit loops.
Yup. Katniss is Trump. The capitol is the swamp.
Ironically, I just read the book and that is not my take at all. It seemed more to me like it was a remake of the communist manifesto.
Who's it a problem for? Not me.
Her maybe, because it's usually not a good idea to act stupid in public, but then again, as P.T.Barnum said, as long as they spell your name right.
Looks to me like a bunch of kids with their minds altered by a Satan worshipping cult.
Oh, wait...
For her.
It works for me because its so easy to mock that people are protesting a fantasy world and not reality, and to make the connection to islam.
Children playing dressup and making believe they’re doing something noble.
So they've turned themselves into educational cannon fodder for society, like drug abusers on skid row. They wear the "I'm Stupid" sign of comedian Bill Engvall with pride, teaching everyone else what it looks like.
They're walking demonstrations of the Dunning-Kruger effect, demonstrating that they're too stupid to know they're stupid, so ignorant they think they're smart. Too bad for them.
Like the homeless guy in The Fisher King who sat in Grand Central and said "see, I'm what you call kind of a moral traffic light, really."
Here's the clip, by the way: Moral Traffic Light.
With Sharia Linda Sarsour and these ShariaMaidens on display this has become a “Through The Looking Glass”, “Twilight Zone” lunacy that defies rational thinking.
As the hashtag goes...#LiberalismIsAMentalIllness
“Their costumes, coupled with their silence, were meant to carry an ominous message...about a world devoid of basic human rights for women.”
Oh, they were protesting Islam?
Dumbledore’s Army is sure to make the scene any day now.
