Former Beatle Paul McCartney has told a British newspaper he believes he once saw God during a psychedelic trip.
The 76-year-old star told The Sunday Times he was humbled by the experience.
He said that it was huge. A massive wall that I couldnt see the top of, and I was at the bottom. And anybody else would say its just the drug, the hallucination, but we felt we had seen a higher thing.

What about Yesterday? One of the most frequently covered songs ever. Paul was no slouch. I think they were a fantastic song writing duo. Neither of them achieved anything in their post Beatles day close to what they produced collaborating with each other, imho.
I heard recently that the Beatles had made a decision to put out songs that would hit the Top 40 rather than produce more underground-style music in order to achieve fame, stardom and great wealth. Smart blokes.
When I was a 19 y/o kid in Ohio, I moved to LA and eventually found an apt in Hollywood.
One Saturday morning, KHJ was playing this new 2-record album and the guest DJ was explaining what was happening in the studio during the recording sessions. He did that for each song before playing it.
The album? Beatles “White Album”
The guest DJ? George Harrison
While under the influence that wasn’t God he saw.
“Long and Winding Road” is MUCH MUCH better on the “Naked” version of the “Let It Be” album without Phil Spector’s waaaay over production of strings.
The Wall of God. See, walls do work.
I think thats how he got in Zeppelin. Page knew him from those sessions. I read that Jimmy Page played on the theme from Goldfinger, of all things!
Well, “Faul” is so long accepted by the public that he can say anything and get away with it.
Even Phil Collins can't stand the guy, and that's saying something.
Dont they, though? Ive learned so much from my four, still learning from them.
Thanks AW for your kind words.
It’s been over 3 decades and even though “they” say it gets easier with time, even as a Christian since 9, my life experience indicates a strong disagreement with “them”.
I’ve come to the conclusion (and acceptance) this pain & torment has been my albatross to carry throughout my life.
WOW! How cool!
Roger Waters wrote an entire double album about a wall.
Still the Diva
Nonsense. Paul wrote too many great songs to remember including many of their hardest rockers like Helter Skelter and Paperback Writer. Truth is the competition spurred them both on (and George too) to be better than they were solo.
And the most sought after studio musician in England was Jimmy Page.
You can’t have Pearly Gates without a wall.
“And then he saw Yoko, and thought he saw Satan.”
Thank goodness her singing voice offers some redemption...../s
I did not see God but Ive certainly felt the energy of his presence while tripping
No question
Its dimensional
Even now some times I feel that sense of time and space into the overlay of our physical world
To say its difficult to explain is an understatement
As ridiculous as it sounds that silly movie Contact actually brushed up against it a little
God is not beyond the stars
He can peel back the reality we see ourselves in
And sometime we get sort of a glimpse of that possibility of a conduit
This probably makes no sense
I think people see this when near death as well
I forget who said it when discussing tripping and God I think maybe Kesey warned you better be ready and brave and awed
And in my case respectful and subservient
I think people of faith are more likely to feel it when tripping than say non believers
McCartney was tight with money per his band mates
No it doesnt
Im the Walrus says Smoke Pot Smoke Pot Everybody Smoke Pot
Strawberry Fields says I buried Paul as a joke
The Beatles were not a satanic band
Good lord
They made great music with excellent a production values per Sir Martin
Im listening to hey bulldog right now actually
