If you do that to avoid the $10,000 reporting requirement with cash at a bank, it is called money laundering. Hastert got caught doing that.

More accurately, it is called "Structuring". And Hastert was guilty of it in paying hush money to a teenage boy he had molested years ago.

How did he ever get to be Speaker of the House?
