I agree. He is based on a best-selling series of novels about a white guy who is an agent of MI6. Most of Bond's quirks, likes and dislikes were based on Ian Fleming's. Idris Elba (or any other black actor, or a woman actor) should play a different character.
We'd never hear the end of it if a black literary character was changed to a white male. If Barbara Broccoli says "it's time" for a black Bond, that just means Bond has outlived his usefulness.
How about Elba playing Bond’s CIA buddy in a spinoff movie?
They could redo Live and Let Die with a white Baron Samedi.
