Maybe they don’t want to facilitate or succumb to the digital Grey Goo.
Guess I'm about as old as you'll find and I'm right out here lurking around. (Mostly watching for trolls but if something bigger and more interesting shows up I'll "settle" for that deal, too.)

Whether they abandoned WWG1WGA, or not, I’m certain they have not abandoned their love for this nation. They are staunch FReepers!
I suspect it is like everything. As you know, life is choices, and it is summer and lots of things are going on. I believe I can confirm that the ones you have mentioned are died in the wool patriots and can be counted on to stand up for Red White and Blue, as they are called upon by the Lord or their inner hearts to do. I am not worried about them at all. I wish them well. As far as I’m concerned, they are welcome here. But I respect their choices and inner directives.
