KitJ posted the thinking of an anon:

Excerpt HR1581
“...(4) Identifying current and emerging trends in foreign propaganda and disinformation, including the use of print, broadcast, online and social media, support for third-party outlets such as think tanks, political parties, and nongovernmental organizations, and the use of covert or clandestine special operators and agents to influence targeted populations and governments in order to coordinate and shape the development of tactics, techniques, and procedures to expose and refute foreign misinformation and disinformation and proactively promote fact-based narratives and policies to audiences outside the United States....”

Excerpt from anon analysis posted by KitJ:

“Think Foreign propaganda
The MSM is implicated in such treason that they can rightly be considered foreign propagandists advancing a conspiracy against the republic & POTUS”

Just as I was reading your above post, KitJ, My Darlin’ had Shepard on Fox who was giving a report.

I paused it and replayed it a few times so I could be sure to get the story line correct:

As I understand it from Shep, we are being told by a top US Navy Admiral, that there is a very large number of submarines in the Atlantic in numbers greater than that since the Cold War.

An expert on Russia told Fox News, “The Bear’s Back.”

“US officials say [to Fox] they are concerned that Moscow might be using the subs to interfere with trans-Atlantic communications. The Navy is said to be stepping up its Atlantic presence because of this concern.”

“Mattis was asked about it, and he said that he is not concerned, and always keeps his eyes on such things as submarines at sea.”

“President Trump and Putin talked about controlling nuclear weapons and banning weapons in space, at their private summit in Finland.”

Shep coyly asks, “Did we learn this from the White House? No.
Politico cites a leaked Russian document. “

“The White House won’t say much of anything, except to say that Trump did not receive any actual paper work. “

Shep emphasizes that “the White House cannot release any information about those talks, and only the two leaders AND their interpreters were in that room.” He also said that Pompeo told Congress that details of the summit “should be kept private.”

Trace Gallegher, then gave a report of what Politico is saying, and that the Russians are working with US on possible arms proposals, being quoted as saying, “We want to get out of the dog house and engage with the US on a broad range of security issues.”

The document supposedly includes such topics as
*New START Treaty extension
*Intermediate missiles ban
*Space weapons ban

And further:

“There were no commitments to undertake any action, beyond agreement that both sides should continue discussions.”

“The Russians did not give any written proposals to Trump, nor did Trump give any written proposals to Putin.”

“Even though Conservative Hawks and Democrats have warned the President against trusting Putin’s suggestion on arms control, that subject is about the only part of the US / Russia relationship that has bi-partisan support in Congress. “

“That said, this [leaked] document falls far short of answering a bunch of questions critics had about exactly what happened inside that meeting including ANY information about what the Russian government meant last month when it said the two leaders discussed ‘cooperation in Syria.’”

End of Shep’s Fox News report

When I saw the headline/foot crawler and then listened to the report after backing it up and making what is pretty close to a transcript of the report, I am wondering if the story might fall under the heading of the above anon quote:

“Think Foreign propaganda
The MSM is implicated in such treason that they can rightly be considered foreign propagandists advancing a conspiracy against the republic & POTUS”

1>ARE there increases in the Russian sub levels in the Atlantic, or is it a scare tactic?
Answer: Scare tactic. Mattis is saying he is aware of subs at sea, he is not concerned, and by extension, we do not need to be either.

2>Is the constant pointing to the details of the Putin/Trump talks being withheld part of their tactic to scare the US population as well?
Answer: So it would seem. There has been an almost constant din on that angle since the talks - even so far as the discussion of hauling the interpreters into interrogation. “WHAT DID THEY TALK ABOUT?! WE WANNA KNOOOOOOOOW!”

3> Are the topics reportedly in the leaked document, which Politico is reporting accurate?
Answer: Possibly.... but who knows? My thoughts tend toward “doubtful” ....
Fake news, and “Foreign propaganda”... as in DS and anon’s analysis?... and hence a report we should be suspicious of?

Just an interesting serendipitous conjunction/confluence of input into my brain at one time, and seeing possible correlations.

I wonder what you think.

What struck me as most interesting is how interested the media is in this, but how UNINTERESTED they are in most of the things that we conservatives would like to know.

The media sound like whiny crybabies demanding an answer to this particular question, yet among the vast universe of questions that they have it in their power to investigate and report on we get zip, zilch, nada.

I find that remarkable. Hence my remarks. ;-)

***the Putin/Trump talks ... even so far as the discussion of hauling the interpreters into interrogation. “WHAT DID THEY TALK ABOUT?***

Of course purely political; POTUS would obviously claim executive privilege.

I suggested POTUS, or his folks, offer this reply: We discussed exactly the same things 0bama discussed with Medvedev and hope they would ask what that was about!
