These trial excerpts are an interesting read indeed.

It sounds like Mueller gave Gates lots of immunity so that they can accuse Manafort of failing to report all his income.

Yet, Gates actually states that Manafort treated the dissputed “income” as LOANS, hence, nontaxable.

It’s going to be pretty hard to prove they were not actually loans, especially if he took the trouble to create an appropriate paper trail.

They did something, for sure, that was adequate to convince Manafort’s accountant, whom no one is accusing of doing anything wrong.

This reeks of the garbage this same crowd used to destroy Arthur Andersen, once the premier American Accounting firm employing about 20,000 people; and, to put Bernie Ebbers in prison for life for failing to warn the public his stock might be going down ... even as he bought more shares himself.
