Now that’s interesting. So his involvement was with the pre-platform phase. (I’m sure I don’t have the correct termimology, but I think I understand what you are saying. And that squares with what he was saying he went to the lawyer about, if I recall correctly.

It's possible that Facebook used Eclipse: it is a widely used development platform. However, this stuff is usually for software professionals. My opinion, which is not based on fact, is that a hacker like Zuckerberg would stay away from Eclipse, because it isn't "cool".

The source below that the original code was written in PHP, which is very hacker friendly. It can be used with Eclipse, but they seemed to do the coding in Hip HoP, which is definitely a hackers paradise and not part of Eclipse.
