This news is very exciting. Gobekli Tepe ("Potbelly Hill") is almost coincidental with Sanliurfa, the birthplae of Abraham. the father of both Israelites and Ishmaelites. The location is not far from Ararat, the fabled location the landing of Noah's Ark. It is also the locality from which the Magoi originated, the ones who came to worship Jesus. Any news of this ought to be very compelling to Bible students who study the history and archaeology of this region, Anatolia.
Of course, it is also very close to the border of Syria, where a lot of ISIS history-destroyers have sought to eradicate any knowledge but that of Moslem origin.

I have been to Ur. Walked in Abraham’s house that Sadam had rebuilt at one point. Very very very interesting. I’m looking fwd to reading this article and thread tomorrow.

I love the Bible, but this place has been dated as more than 11,000 years old. If the dating is reasonably accurate, this place predates anything in the Bible other than Creation itself.
The site is well preserved for its age because it was intentionally buried long ago. The hill they’re excavating is artificial. That was no small undertaking, so whoever did it must have thought they had a good reason to hide this place.
If someday we acquire technology which allows us to view the past in some manner, much of what we think we know about history will be vaporized.

hmmm... Gobekli Tepe is 700 km from Mount Ararat
And the Magi were Zoroastrian "priests"/astronomers who were studying the skies.
