(CNN) — A cardiologist who treated former President George H.W. Bush was killed Friday morning in a bicycle-to-bicycle drive-by shooting near Texas Medical Center in Houston, authorities said.

Dr. Mark Hausknecht and the shooter were both riding bikes on South Main Street, near Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women, shortly before 9 a.m. local time, Executive Assistant Police Chief Troy Finner said at a news conference.

Hausknecht, 65, was biking north when he passed the shooter going in the other direction, Finner said. The shooter turned, fired two shots at Hausknecht and rode away on his bike, Finner said.

Hausknecht was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Finner said.

Finner said investigators didn’t know if the shooting was targeted, random or caused by road rage. He said a few people witnessed the shooting and video may become available.

Wait, I thought you had to have something on *Hillary* for stuff like this to happen.

Of course, "if the Americans had any idea what we've done, they'd chase us down the street and lynch us."

Maybe someone is trying to forestall whatever the Doctor knew, coming out...?

OH WOW!!! That is a good find! More of the strange/early deaths of doctors.... and here is one connected to a DS mogul.

So strange that shooter AND doc were both riding bikes - random much? Doesn’t sound like it to me.... but then I’ve become a little bit suspicious about stories like this.

More info about this from Houston here:

Bike to bike? Seems targeted. Wonder if he biked a route every day. The doctor worked at Texas Orthopedic Hospital which is less than a mile from where he was shot. He was headed to Houston Methodist Hospital and all is right around each other. Seems as if he rode his bike between all the medical buildings to appointments so he would have been a familiar sight. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mark-hausknecht-cardiologist-shot-killed-today-texas-medical-center-2018-07-20/

That neighborhood is like medical complex central. Lots of medical facilities around. Residents are majority black.
