With the talk of pro-life U.S. Supreme Court nominees and Roe v. Wade potentially being overturned, it is important to actually know what the landmark abortion case is about.
And there are strong indications that many do not.
A Democratic pollster recently pointed out that most millennials do not know what Roe v. Wade is about, or when abortion was legalized.
Millennials think that Roe v. Wade happened right after the American Revolution, Celinda Lake, president of Lake Research, said on a Friday episode of What Americas Thinking, a show on Hill.TV about polls and public opinion.
Furthermore, a 2013 study by the Pew Research Center found that 57 percent of polled adults aged 18 to 29 did not know that the 1973 case dealt with abortion. Despite their lack of knowledge regarding this seemingly important right, it appears some millennials still fight for this ruling despite not knowing what it did.
When Roe v. Wade was handed down, many abortion supporters stated that abortion would be safe, legal, and rare. That has proved itself to not be the case. Even some abortion advocates say the poorly-written case has no constitutional basis, and its loose language has opened the door to widespread abortions.
Because of Roe and its companion case, Doe v. Bolton, the United States is one of only seven countries in the world that permits elective abortions past 20 weeks a fact confirmed by the Washington Post fact checker.
Keep up with the latest pro-life news and information on Twitter.
Roe v. Wade opened the doors to 60 million abortions in America. The case, along with Doe v. Bolton, forced states to allow abortions for almost any reason up to birth. The two decisions took away states power to regulate abortions and protect unborn babies. More recent Supreme Court rulings have allowed for modest abortion regulations and restrictions, but abortions remain widely unregulated in the first and second trimester of pregnancy.
Regardless of what many younger voters may or may not know about Americas abortion laws, many citizens still want to see change. A Gallup poll found that more than half of Americans want all or most abortions to be made illegal. A Knights of Columbus poll from January found that 76 percent of Americans support significant abortion restrictions.
In light of todays Supreme Court nomination, it is important that citizens follow the news and see who the presidents pick is for the court. And people who are worried about the future of their own freedoms and rights should first understand where the so-called right to abort an unborn baby came from and how truly radical that court ruling was.
Big surprise.
You may want to ARTH PING this story out.
I are loving it either way.
The important thing is they’re against overturning it.
They don’t know what socialism is either.
Millenial: Trump is Hitler!
Normal Person: Why do you say that?
Millenial: He wants to overturn Roe v Wade!
Normal Person: What is Roe v Wade?
Millenial: I have no idea.
Normal Person: Then maybe you shouldn’t say Trump is Hitler?
Millenial: Shut up. I don’t talk to racists.
Rhetorical question.
“Poll Finds 57% of Millennials Dont Even Know Roe v. Wade is About Abortion”
Surprising whom?
They don’t know who God is either.
Let me tell you that we didn’t just take God out of education. We took education out of education. Any thing American was removed. WWII, Vietnam, Korea! It was done to install COMMUNISM and to take your stuff.
Agreed.
Millennials think that Roe v. Wade happened right after the American Revolution,
Sooo in 1777 or 1778 Roe was passed? OOO Murrrderrr as Bugs Bunny would say!! Yea the 19th amendment was not passed yet but abortion was, yep that makes sense.
Roe Vs Wade will be the new 2nd Amendment when they get rid of the current one.
Somebody should do a man-on-the-street Q&A, asking people if they know who Roe V. Wade is. No doubt, some will make up their answers on the spot, pretending they know and not wanting to sound ignorant. Mention Dwayne Wade, and many will immediately say they knew Wade had a sister.
Ignorance is Strength
(What percentage could identify where this quote is from?)
“Let me tell you that we didnt just take God out of education. We took education out of education...”
DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER!!!
No more phone calls please!
Yea and Metmom has a whole ping dedicated just for that too!
Because all the pro-abortionists say it’s about “reproductive rights”, or “the right to choose”. They won’t say it’s really about killing babies because they always couch their evil ways in righteous-sounding language.
Dont know why anyone blames millenniums for this and certain other things
They were not taught this history. It is too shameful. Plus tgey might get to the truth of it as kids tend to do. The people running public schools, the liberal wing of government, cant have that.
But parents are actually in charge of kids’ education. They will be judged by this from God. That’s just a fact .
It is the fault of parents that these kids are unaware
I told mine. i would never blame nor make fun of my kids for not knowing this
Not to worry.
Facebook will tell them what to think.
I have a teacher in my family. He tells me they are not teaching any history past 1900 in public schools to avoid the reality of the White race sacrifice and building of/ for this country. The whole thing is racism to stomp out the REAL history of our country. These graduating mush heads are so ignorant that t would boggle your mind.
