Mitch McConnell doesn't have the stomach for a Supreme Court fight.
He doesn't want his democrat buddies in republican states to be cornered.
He doesn't want to upset the precious Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski.
He doesn't want have to pressure "suffering" John McCain to retire before the Arizona August primary so the beloved Cindy can be appointed without any political consequences.
And McConnell doesn't want another hard-line textualist on the court.
McConnell wants Trump to make it easy for him.
Her Adams Apple might pop out
McCanin relished being the vote that lost the fight on Obamacare, reportedly coming off the dais after the vote with a comment: “Make American great now, Donald.”
Clearly, the vote was a spite vote against Trump, not against the Obamacare McCain had railed against for years.
I have no doubt that the word has been passed that if McCain can be there physically to provide another spite vote against the interest of America, he will vote against any Trump nominee.
Such a shame that two grown men can’t be statesmen at this stage of their careers. Who is more to blame? Who cares?
Any of Trump’s top 4 will be fine, and certainly no Harriet Miers. If McConnell has heard from some Pub senators that they won’ vote for 2 of them he absolutely should let Trump know. If he didn’t and the nominee didn’t get through by 1 vote you would all be screaming he should have let Trump know. All you whiners ought to quit the knee-jerk Mitch bashing on this. He did a good job killing the Merrick nomination and getting Gorsuch through, so in this issue I trust him.
Besides the two he recommended have solid 2A records, my #1 issue. Where’s you evidence that either is anything other that what Trump promised?
With any luck McCain won’t be an issue in two months when they vote on the nominee.
