No, monkeys aren't human. But they are part of the five species of primates.

For someone who knows nothing about the intensive work trainers did with Koko, you certainly are opinionated. And wrong.

Except this story is about an ape.
Not a monkey.

Gorillas aren't monkeys, they're apes. So are humans.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hominidae
The Hominidae (/hɒˈmɪnɪdiː/), whose members are known as great apes or hominids, are a taxonomic family of primates that includes eight extant species in four genera: Pongo, the Bornean, Sumatran and Tapanuli orangutan; Gorilla, the eastern and western gorilla; Pan, the common chimpanzee and the bonobo; and Homo, which includes modern humans and its extinct relatives (e.g., the Neanderthal), and ancestors, such as Homo erectus.

Zoos put cats and dogs into cages with wild animals so they know if the zoo creature will become violent.
Tigers shred those puppies all the time. It basically gives the zoo a warning of whether the cat should be in the public eye or not.
And now you know !

I'm open to the concept that the other great apes such as gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans are people. People of very limited intellect, and not human....but people nonetheless, and as such should be granted very limited rights.
