Leslie Jones said she hopes that during the next season of Saturday Night Live, the show can avoid some of the constant political humor and Trump jokes.
I hope next year we can do more funnier stuff instead of a lot of political stuff this year, which we had to, Jones told TheWrap in a phone interview. There was so much stuff that was happening, there was no way that our show, with the responsibility that we have, would not to cover that stuff. It was just too important. But I do hope that next year will be a lot more funny-funny based stuff, more comedy based stuff instead of a lot of political stuff.
Jones clarified that there is an important place for political comedians on SNL, and the greater comedy world, but stressed that theres such a thing as too much.
There should be a stream of comics that come and do that type of comedy, because we do need that. And I love looking at that type of comedy that explains whats going on and make it funny so you can really realize this is ridiculous, Jones said. But there should be more than that as far as funny comics that come and really make you laugh. Like so gut laugh. Comedy is a release just like art and music. All of that is the same thing. You need that release. It cant always be serious. You need The Three Stooges just as much as you need John Oliver.

Just call Saturday Night Dead already. I don’t think there’s a cure.
Did they ever take shots at Obama, or Hillary, or any Democrats, they way they take shots at Trump?
Political humor is fine in theory, but it loses something, if you have to be liberal to think the jokes are funny .
The dude from Ghostbusters wants them to stop I say let them keep beating that dead horse.
It’s not working? I’m shocked!
Who’s Leslie Jones again?
SNL is unwatchable and their very unfunny cast knows this. Their so-called humor is hate-based, pure and simple.
Words mean things - and what happens on SNL are not jokes. They are mean, insults without any hint of humor. Just anger. It’s sad and not entertaining.
Had to?
Like ORDERED TO?..........
Dan Ackroyd?..
A “Female” that looks like she wears underwear with d***holes in them...
And even some Hillary skits during the last campaign.
A lot of that could be seen as "laughing with" rather than "laughing at."
Of course, they favor Democrats and don't really like Republicans.
But Obama got a special pass from them that they didn't give to any other politician.
Self righteous c***.
Maybe all the other media overtook them and they don't have any original material.
Or maybe it's that much harder to find things that audiences will find funny.
With politics they're at least sure that if they're vicious enough, a large part of the country will respond positively.
And they don't care about the other large part of the country.
I never watch any of those shows but regularly see advertisements for them. they always show some jackass simply say some lie about Trump then have a self satisfied smile as if they have said something brilliant.
They are not even jokes just false statements.
What the heck kind of “responsibility” do these jerks think they have that supercedes humor? It’s so true that liberals ruin everything they touch.
They’re doing a pretty good job of portraying liberal stupidity while President Trump changes the world and MAGA.
An example of the different way the subjects are treated: during the 2000 election, Conan did a where are the candidates right now segment. He said, Al Gore is practicing acting like a tree. George Bush is snorting a line of coke. Lieberman is having sex with his wife. Cheney is murdering a homeless man for his heart. Harmless jokes for the Dems. Really evil **** for the GOP. Thats how comedy go.
SNL did not even have a Obama impersonator when became President. They had a tough time trying to do impersonation. Since Most of the cast was white I think a guy was in black face at one time. Jay Pharaoh at one point did Obama but they kept rejecting the skits. So they finally took him off as Obama and then fired him.
