Solo: A Star Wars Story has mustered only $264 million at the worldwide box office, but one prominent voice on Wall Street blames the misfire on poor marketing, not a larger issue with the franchise.
Doug Creutz, a veteran media analyst at Cowen, issued a report to investors that reaffirmed his market perform rating on Disney shares. While the report is based on his financial view of the company, it allows the analyst a chance to wade directly into the pop-culture waters to offer his take on why Solo stumbled. Point by point, the report knocks down some of the suggested cultprits, from production woes to tight release calendar spacing just five months after The Last Jedi, to lingering fan animus toward TLJ, If the franchise was able to survive Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, we have a hard time believing Last Jedi could have done that much damage, Creutz writes.

Luke and Leia were originally written as a couple until it was later decided they’d be brother and sister. #AwkwardMoments

I’ve seen libtard critics who like the new Planet of the Apes movies and are happy to see the end of mankind, destroyer of Earth. Apes win.

You're right-the original story was a romantic triangle-a-la-Gone With the Wind-hence the similar poster for Empire. It made more sense. Veering away AFTER the on-screen dynamic was established made everything after look stupid. Lucas didn't care about continuity or how it made things look in retrospect, according to Gary Kurtz. Any 'ick' factor was due to Lucas getting to ROTJ and just wanting a quick, easy way to wrap up a dynamic he didn't want to resolve logically.Even as late as Empire the promotional pics had Hamill and Fisher appearing 'couple' like, especially in promo pics for the foreign press.
By ROTJ Lucas had become what he had hated, a corporation. His focus became merchandising at the expense of storytelling. Empire was great because the director fought Lucas who admitted later that it was 'a better picture than I wanted to make.' Imagine that-he wanted worse, less...explains Ewoks and the Prequels, eh?

To be fair to the guy who claimed it, Dad never found televised ads for Solo, so it’s true that it may have been poorly marketed on the televised area at least.
That being said, that’s definitely not the main reason why it tanked. It has to do with the guys doing Star Wars cramming in SJW stuff as well as the bad reception to The Last Jedi (Glover and Kasdan Jr. both indicating that Lando’s pansexual certainly didn’t do it any favors).
And as far as Boba Fett, he was a pretty popular character, enough to get a whole lot of EU stories, so I’m not surprised that Boba Fett’s possibly going to get a film.

poor marketing Would that "poor marketing" be things like airbrushing a blaster out of the movie poster?
