The Dog of Peace.
I remember back in the day that whenever one of these attacks happened there would be a LOT of Pit Bull owners here that would come to their defense with a lot of “It’s the owner” comments.
I’ve not seen one in the last couple of years though. I wonder if most or all of them had their own close (or not so close) call with their own pit bull.
But the implications your analogy makes clarify the situation here.
The last pit bull thread I read, had the second or so poster state he hated, with a vengeance, Freepers that would besmirch the name of the dog of peace.
Well, after all, Chet 99 isn’t welcome here anymore...

In the past month or so there have been many threads here on FR about Pit Bull attacks and there are at least five or six Pit defenders, three of them who resort to Ad hominem attacks at the outset of their arguments.
I cant think of their screen name, but one of such is a nasty piece of work. Very hostile and breathes wishful threats against critics of pit bulls.

What if that premise is exactly true, but the problem is that they do not extend it to the logical conclusion? That the ownership and the responsibility are exactly commensurate? That the owner is ultimately responsible for whatever the animal does?
I have been thinking on the issue lately. I do not yet see a solution, but this problem will not dissolve on its own.
I was pet sitting a little puppy and a Great Dane. They were best of friends until puppy tried to eat out of big dog’s bowl. Grt Dane snapped puppy’s head, and fangs went into the temples. Puppy was blinded. It was an animal reacting to a one time event, puppy eating his food. Never did that again. But it could have been a crawling baby on that floor.
