An 8-month-old girl was bitten by a family pit-bull dog and died from her injuries Wednesday in Miramar, police said.
The baby was in the care of a grandmother during the attack, Miramar Police Officer Yessenia Diaz said outside a home in the 2400 block of Kingston Drive.
Nearby, a distraught man was being comforted by two women.
The male pit bull was 3 or 4 years old and had been raised by the family since it was a puppy, Diaz said. Its sibling and mother, both pit bulls, were also in the home.

We really need to be more specific. It’s difficult to keep all the pitbull maiming and killing stories straight. Was it the one on May 24 where logi_cal1869 offered up the tendentious nugget below? He was mean to me after I responded. Compared me to laxative, he did!
I quote:
“If the anti-pitbull cabal at FR cared as much about the child victims of distracted driving, wed see all the news stories about the heinous drivers who victimize others at a rate an order of magnitude greater than the pitbull.
Just sayin.”
Sorry not impressed. Did you ever think what would happen if you are wrong?
My humble opinion: a house with a baby should NOT have large dogs, especially the known bully breeds, especially pit bulls. A dog only needs to have three bad seconds and that would be enough time to kill a baby.
My (idiot) daughter adopted a RESCUE pit bull when my grandson was two years old. HELLO, can you spell high risk dog?!?! Can you spell reckless and stupid?!?!
She was married and living at Camp Pendleton, it was her @sshole ex-husband’s idea to get the pit bull. When I found out about this situation (I live in Arizona) I cried and begged for her to get rid of the dog.
She told me to mind my own business and stop overreacting. So I called the Camp Pendelton base housing office and told them about the pit bull. I had done some research and learned that pit bulls are a banned breed at Camp Pendleton. My idiot ex son in law was ordered by his commanding officer to give up the dog, who was returned to the rescue organization.
To this day my daughter has no idea what I did LOL. I have no regrets about my sneaky behavior, none whatsoever.

I’m have no intention of trying to impress you.
Start with the owners. Worry about the dogs later. The puppies are good for fighting, guarding crack houses, and helping with loanshark collection. Not much else.
It’s just money to most people.
That little ray of sunshine is with Jesus now, and her parents get to live with the aftermath.
This was 100% preventable.
Once a person uses ad-hominem, they’ve lost the argument. For starters, they show that they are being emotional, rather than logical.
I have no expectations of changing your mind I simply asked a relevant question, which you refuse to answer.
There are people who deem themselves ‘experts’ on keeping wild and dangerous animals, tigers, lions, gators, large snakes and so on, I have never met one who was unsure and didn’t totally trust in their ability to control the animal until they couldn’t.
The plain truth is that there are animals that are just not meant to be kept as pets. And there are some people who just don’t accept that fact.
If they cared about dog attacks they would post articles about ALL dog attacks. They’re outrage is very selective.
They offer no advice on how to avoid ALL dog attacks.
Their self-righteousness is that of a narrowly focused fanatic which does not extend concern to ALL victims of ALL dog attacks.
Frankly, I have no desire to debate them or you.
I’ll continue to focus on Responsible Dog Ownership and how to avoid dog attacks
and continue to take advantage of the opportunities the haters present me to post photos of my wonderful gift from the Creator
as the first year anniversary of his passing approaches next month.
The answer to your question is yes.
That is why from the very beginning I kept the principles of responsible dog ownership foremost in my mind.
Control, Contain, Maintain, Train and Socialize
What do you as a responsible owner suggest be done to correct the fact that 999 owners out of 1000 do not come close to following your mantra?
I value your knowledge and opinion about ‘pit bulls’ as much as I value the knowledge and opinion of a Neo-Nazi about Black folk.
Let’s hear from the pitbull apologist now. The right of you to own a breed of dog trumps the right of an eight-month-old child to not be mauled to death?
Sorry but this is no longer a debatable topic. We don’t tolerate cultures of death and we don’t tolerate dog breeds that exist to kill.
Inform the landlord that he is renting to pitbull owners. He may not know.
Sounds like why I have a 500 mosseburg with #4buck and my tagline.
Your answer is very telling. I will trouble you no more.
