Rosanne Barr show cancelled
I’m surprised they didn’t even consider firing Roseanne and doing a season without her (renaming the show).
Yeah let's look at that. If you boil it down to just money - and there is no reason to believe that ABC was motivated by anything but that - then ABC has over 1.33 billion reasons for dumping Barr over this. That was the box office take for Black Panther - over $1.33 billion to date. Black Panther was produced by Marvel Studios, a wholly owned subsidiary of Walt Disney Pictures, owned by The Walt Disney Company, owners of ABC. Marvel has two Black Panther sequels in the works. They dropped Barr like a load of poop because they knew that whatever profits they realized from her show paled in comparison to what they will make from Black Panter. Or Star Wars. Or any of the other movie serials that they own. It's all about protecting their other profit centers.
LOL! Not sure how they would do that? Rewrite it so that John Goodman divorced her because she was racist?
The Muslim Brotherhood is not Iranian. It is a Sunni orgznization and the Iranian regime and most of the nation are Shiite.
Why don;t you get some facts, or understand a situation before you post next time. I have no access to certain sites here, so therefore a simple question to another poster , not you BTW was asked.
next time think, and understand before your post so as to not look like someone who is stuck up their own a## with arrogance.
They could kill off her character.
And have what? It was a show because of Barr. Take her out and there's nothing to attract people to watch.
The test will be will they pull all the old episodes? If they're serious about canceling the show, they'll yank everything from reruns and On-Demand; this past hit season, all previous seasons, and Hulu as well. Forget she ever existed.
If they keep the old episodes available for viewing, ABC might just wait until this blows over, particularly in the face of what clearly appears to be a double standard regarding offensive comments made by liberal entertainers who are still allowed to keep their jobs.
Yes, you’re right.
Yes. She’s ‘black’ on her mother’s side, too - her maternal great grandfather was the first AA enrolled at MIT:

As DoodleDawg points out in post 322, the company that owns the show owns a lot more than this show.
The entertainment industry has been looking for any reason to take Rosanne down since she came out pro Trump and Rosanne, being the bipolar nut that she has always been, gave them the ammunition.
And Roseanne's comments would have had zilch effect on earnings from those other sources.
Seriously? You think people won't go see Marvel franchise movies because Roseanne made a offensive joke about Valerie Jarrett?
This is not even slightly about money or "brand" value.
Most level headed people could look at Jarrett and SEE that she has MORE than a passing resemblance to the advanced apes in Planet of the apes. They don’t even look like real apes. Of course can’t even make a joke about that though.
Why oh why isn’t there some Conservative TV network?? One that would hire Rosanne or Tim Allen in a hearbeat? They would smash competition.
I think that given the current lunatic hypersensitivity to just about anything controversial - and the ‘activists’ who are just drooling to get hold of something like this - they could well want to distance themselves from a ‘property’ which might offend segments of a public that has brought in a billion dollars.
The Left would go after the advertisers. They're attacking Roku simply because it allows access to an NRA channel.
Yeah, and besides, you’re forgetting that this is Disney under Bob Iger, who is notorious for putting politics over turning a profit for even his company. Do I have to remind you that this was the same company that managed to bury a DVD release for Path to 9/11, despite clear demands for a DVD release, not even selling the rights to another company, and despite all the profit that it could go to, all because Iger was trying to support Hillary Clinton’s 2008 election campaign? Or how about how Iger continues to let political hacks use ESPN as a sounding board for their leftist views over, you know, actually covering sports plays, or ABC News spewing left-wing agitprop, despite at least one of his shareholders objecting, and a Disney Imagineer also objecting, citing that the audience Iger’s trying to cater to won’t even fill a theater.
Michael Eisner may not have been one of Disney’s better CEOs, but at least he cared about turning a profit, not to mention actually TRYING to keep Disney as the company Walt Disney himself had made (as evidenced by his approving of the Jim Cox version of Beauty and the Beast until Jeffrey Katzenberg nixed it in favor of the feminist screed version we got, not to mention him continuing The Wonderful World of Disney until Bob Iger canned that series).
