SHREVEPORT, La. — Sarah Rose Summers from Nebraska beat out 50 other women Monday to win this year’s Miss USA competition.
Summers, a 23-year-old contestant from Omaha, graduated from Texas Christian University with two degrees and is working on becoming a certified child life specialist.

They also provide information, support, and guidance to parents, siblings, and other family members.
Thanks for looking that up. That is a very worthwhile career! Children’s hospitals everywhere must be full of these kind and comforting souls. The daughter of a friend was in a horrible car crash which severely damaged her brain stem leaving her nearly dead. Such people aided the family enormously while their daughter was hospitalized.

“glorified babysitter” - that’s exactly what it sounded like to me, too. Sounded like a basket-weaving degree, but it sounds very serious and probably quite difficult.
