WOW! I love those questions! Have no answers, but they bear consideration, IMHO!
BTW, I am among those who does see a little something in the owl’s left eye (the one on our right as we look at it). It COULD be a human figure with crossed arms - but I’m not going to die on that hill insisting.

To me it looks like a pale rectangle with a funnel coming out of the top. There is a shadow that looks like a person behind it. (In the Owl eye on the right.)
