But I don’t personally know of any kids that are doing this (or real similar activities), although we have 5 grandkids in the house who introduce many of their friends.

But I don’t personally know of any kids that are doing this Neither do I. Nor can I recall ever seeing kids doing anything other than playing mindless video games. But they are clearly out there. There are lots of big contests and model car clubs.

This particular show was Latin-style cars. Low riders, etc. Not too crazy about that style myself, but the craftsmanship is excellent...

A lot of them were too delicate to really do much more than be gently driven short distances at an event, and some of them that could actually go out on the street were miserably cumbersome.

Tres chic! I take it the same is an aftermarket item and not part of the kit?
I read somewhere that rock-n-roll (and perhaps the ‘73 Oil Crisis) “ruined” the plastic model market because a point came where kids spent their money on instruments to be the next big rock-n-roll band.
