The system is designed for honest people. SC has a function, in principle, and the idea is to give them independence, sort of, and make it so they are not in fear of turf protection or being fired.

SC has TONS of check on his power, if AG (or DAG in this case) exercises it. See the regulations. Mueller should have been taken off the obstruction case long ago for conflict of interest; not just his, but Rosenstein is a co-conspirator in firing Comey!

It's pretty common for the system to look broken when the players are dishonest. See reams of SCOTUS decisions that are contrary to the constitution, and even to basic principle of separation of power.

Well, both were clearly compromised from the beginning. So they never should have been appointed - they could at least have an approval of the appointment.

The whole darn justice department and FBI was crooked during Obama’s Admin. and there ought to have been some way to deal with that, during zero’s tenure, instead of having to wait till after.

I’m not smart enough to know how that could be done, but obviously there will be times when there are crooks - in fact more times than not for last several decades.
