If McCain lasts beyond 5/31/2018, then the person appointed will be able to serve till 2020. There is also the issue of what if McCain changes parties before he dies. I've forgotten where that stands.
The fact that Pubbies tried to change the law may indicate that he is not expected to last till May 31.
While I disagree with McCain, and I do think he's a crook that should probably gone to jail along with the rest of the Keating gang, and would have liked him to stand trial for treason, I will not insult a dying man who was in the military during Vietnam period.
I think the LSM is abhorrent for using his final days and statements to beat Trump over the head, same as they are horrible for using children to push gun control. I'll save my venom for them.

I believe it is time to fervently pray for those in the MSM. We know they are 95% Atheist and the other 5% is agnostic. I am not forgetting the .000001% that are Christians. The Lord directs us to pray for those that despitefully persecute us for righteousness sake. We are told elsewhere that when we pray for those that are against us God will place a hot coal upon their head.
I have always envisioned this as the same as God placing a coal on the lips of the prophet that no evil will come from his mouth, in the same vein God will place a coal upon their head to change the very thoughts that they think and bring them to their knees in repentance.
If God places a burning coal on your head and you will not repent, the heat from the burning coal would surely drive one to acts of desperation or insanity. I would that Christ would save them for I wish an eternity in Hell upon no one. Yet if they are given over to a reprobate mind and desire their just rewards then they gave my pity and God’s will be done.
My point is we must pray as earnestly for the deliverance of these who are lost in their sin as Satan’s cheerleaders as we do ask His blessings and protection for POTUS, his family, and those who serve with him and their families as well!

AZ law states the appointee must be the same party as the Senator at his last election. No Name won’t be able to have any effect by switching party. Rumor is Governor Ducey is considering the wife of real estate developer Ed Robson (I can’t remember her name right now) to fill the seat. She supposedly does not want to run for election and would merely be a placeholder until the next election.
