HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The news of Ben and Rene Ruiz's deaths come as a shock for the many people who described the couple as happy, loving and groundbreaking in the gay community.

Houston police say the men, who were in the midst of a divorce, died in a murder-suicide inside a million-dollar home near the Galleria.

Their bodies were discovered Thursday inside a bathroom at their home on Markham Street near Weslayan.

"It's not truly set in yet," said Ben's longtime friend, Edward Sanchez. "I think deep down inside I'm waiting to hear from him."

Sanchez said the couple helped pave the path for the Houston gay community. Ben was a cosmetics director at Laura Mercier.

"They were really kind of pillars of the community when they decided they were going to get married. This was before gay marriage was legal in the United States, this was before it was even legal to get a marriage license in Houston," Sanchez said.

Exactly.

Why and how does choosing the wrong fence and the wrong knothole automatically create a 'community?' Why are gays and the media so enamored of calling it a community without any evidence of same? Are there attendance-mandatory meetings? Dances? House-to-house counting of individuals and couples?

happy, loving and groundbreaking in the gay community

1) This is obviously a lie and a contradiction of everything in the MURDER-SUICIDE news story, not to mention the fact that they were already involved in divorce.

2) I shudder to think what 'groundbreaking' involves.

"I hope that they find peace. They deserve that, they deserve to have peace," Sanchez

A nice sentiment but someone whose last two cowardly acts were to kill another human then kill himself is unlikely to find peace or anything else very pleasant after.

Nice house. But that murder/suicide will need to be in the disclosures for the property which will knock down the sales price.

"Pillars of the community." Right. Sure.

Actually I said years ago (no joking) if you really don’t like homosexuals and want them to be miserable, legalize same sex marriage. Not being allowed to get married was the perfect excuse for men who don’t want the commitment. I can only imagine how many arguments have ensued over “you say you love me, why don’t you want to get married?” since it’s been legal.

That is how I see it.

The “Couple” paved the Way...

It’s path leads to death and the grave.

Is this what “love wins” look like?

Or was it the “scenic” ride Jennifer and Sarah Hart took their 6 adopted kids on?

Homosexual relationships are also very co-dependent and enmeshed/ unstable relationships. Dragging lots of baggage that they haven’t dealt with.

Is it possible to deal with the innate “baggage” that they have? Sounds like they keep making more of it along the way.

Even down to Wheel of Fortune allowing contestants to identify their same-sex partner in the audience.

You can bet that good Reagan conservative Pat Sajak hated doing that. Of course, when you have a $20m annual paycheck at stake you do what you have to do.
