Did you own any of these?
I did.......................
I was considering a Lexus. A couple models have really strong power plants. I just could not get past the ugly, angular front-ends. Passed.
Agree...they are horrible - especially the SUV version. The Japanese can design some good cars (Mazda 3, Mazda 6) but also some are overstyled.
We have a Lexus, we took the car into the dealer for service, and we told the salesman about what we thought about the new front ends.
He confessed that he heard that a lot.
My brother had an orange Pinto which I often borrowed because I had a big block Chevy gas guzzler. I drove the you know what outa that Pinto and it never broke down. Ugly yes but I liked it’s reliability and it being cheap on gas.
The Pinto really got a bad rap................Now the Vega was a real POS car!.......................
Most of those were not particuarly ugly.
I thought Gremlin and Pacer looked pretty cool.
And, no matter what it looked like, the VW Think was tre cool!
4Runner, really? Doesn’t seem bad to me.
The Ford Flex? Wow. Did they just steal some third grader’s crayon drawing of a car and copy it? Because that’s what it looks like. Man that thing is ugly.
That was my point in posting this. I really like most of those cars, owned a Pinto, and wanted a Matador...................
Well, I had a blue Matador and I loved that car. I remember blowing by cop cars on Turnagain Parkway in Anchorage. (Also had a Hornet in ‘71 with my Nixon-Agnew bumper sticker.)
Walter White’s sage Pontiac Aztek in Breaking Bad was fairly high in the ugly factor.
An elderly friend of my wife had a Matador, tubular headlights type. The real ‘little old lady owned’ car! not a scratch on it, low miles, dealer serviced, original everything like new and was 20 years old at the time.
I wanted to buy it until she let a friend borrow it and totaled it out..........B^(
It wasn’t all that bad...if you filled it with water and put some fish in it.
Yep. Essentially a better Ford Explorer. Slimmer profile. Just as roomy. Not as boxy as the Explorer, but still good ground clearance. Sold 4 wheel drive Jeep components for the differential. AMC owned Jeep at the time. A great farewell car.
I’ve owned my “elephant” since new (2006).
Today, it has 291,000 miles on the clock.
The best vehicle I’ve ever had. Not the most fun, not the fastest, not the best looking.
Just the best.
see post 93............
Yeah, it was kinda sad. Pintos and Matadors were neat, too.
Besides, appearence is secondary to reliability and payload!
Toyota Tercel
Cadillac Seville
Did anybody ever decide what kind of ‘car’ an Aztek actually was?........................
