Video of the arrest shows Lam arriving to confront a man standing next to a white van with front-end damage. The vehicle had just mowed down pedestrians along a stretch of one of Toronto's busiest roads. The death toll reach 10 late Tuesday, and another 15 people were injured.
The video shows the man standing next to the open door on the driver's side of the vehicle, his arm outstretched, pointing a black object at the officer.
"Come on, get down," the officer shouts after drawing his weapon.
"Kill me," the man says in between making quick-draw motions with his arm.
"No, get down," the officer responds.

Cheaper to shoot him.
Have a feeling Trudeau will be personally meeting with the cop to confer the Coveted Canadian Courageous Restraint Award.
Yup. Now I have another dependent for the next 20 years. Taxpayers would have been better served with one shot to the head. The cop is lucky to be alive - it could just as easily gone the other way.
Big mistake
Hopefully he didn’t tackle the guy.
It would be unfortunate if the man he took down was injured in any way.
It’s vitally important that we not injure these people.
I hope you didn’t hurt his feelings either.
as they work furiously in the background to erase this little jihadi’s background and instead, make him a ‘mentally unstable’ non terrorist

His mug reminds me of the Fraud’s BFF terrorist at Fort Hood.
My uncle was a lawyer in Canada, and I asked him, what is the correct LEGAL response when confronted by an armed attacker.
He stated, “Run away”.
To do otherwise (ie. defend yourself or your family) is to invite prosecution.
Unbelievable.
I thought the same thing.
The problem is the Canucks are willing to protect Jihadis. We may never know this guys’ motives, or we at least have reason to doubt the official version.
If this man had any accomplices the authorities do have a chance to find out. The officer was probably going by his training instructions. One cool person. "To Serve and Protect" the motto.
So this guy is praised for being kind to a terrorist who just killed and maimed a bunch of people.
Truly sick stuff.
can’t have cops killing mass murderers.
Hard to know what was going on in the officer’s mind. He took a risk not shooting him, but I am sick of these attacks and the attackers getting off so easily by sacrificing themselves. Now we have the perp in custody. We have a chance to find out his motivations.
You know that also may have been in the cop’s mind. Days and months or years of investigation into him shooting the perp, when he should have talked the man down - or so the arm chair experts will argue.
Our government does NOT like us defending ourselves. The montague case is one example. The High River gun grab is another.
