Yeti bails on NRA
Florida Sportsman ^ | 4/20/2018 | limitless

The National Rifle Association is targeting YETI after the Texas-based maker of high-dollar cups and coolers dropped its sponsorship of the Friends of NRA Foundation Banquet and Auction events around the country, according to an alert issued by NRA Florida lobbyist Marion Hammer today. The YETI coolers “have been a hot item for sportsmen” at the events for years, according to Hammer’s alert.

“Suddenly, without prior notice, YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why. They will only say they will no longer sell products to The NRA Foundation. That certainly isn’t sportsmanlike. In fact, YETI should be ashamed. They have declined to continue helping America’s young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities. These activities enable them to appreciate America and enjoy our natural resources with wholesome and healthy outdoor recreational and educational programs,” the alert reads. “In this day and age, information is power. We thought you needed this information.”

The NRA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization, according to the alert, which also includes a link to YETI’s online contact service/.

Darn! I just bought a second Yeti travel coffee cup last week. The rest of their crap is outrageously expensive so I never planned to buy anything else of theirs. So, no boycott of Yeti for me, I guess.

Had been thinking of getting a good cooler for my fishing boat.

I now know which one is now out of consideration

I wouldn’t buy any of their ridiculously expensive products anyway. But, its still a shame that they’ll risk alienating their customers with this kind of useless virtue signaling.

LOL! We saw some of their crap at Scheels. WOW! Talk about sticker shock. Back to styrofoam coolers. Well, I never left them. Guess them high on the hog rednecks can afford ‘em. Not me.

It is amazing how divorced large corporation directors are from their customer base. They will be begging the NRA on their hands and knees to accept their apology within a week.

The YETI coolers “have been a hot item for sportsmen” at the events for years, according to Hammer’s alert.

High dollar is right.

I guess the people that can afford to go to the NRA events can afford Yeti coolers.

I can’t afford either one.

Even when the local Gander Mountain was going out of business and had them marked down the price was too high.

I have looked at them and they appear to be a high quality product but I can’t afford the price. But then I can’t afford to go on the kind of vacation where such a cooler would prove useful either.

So, let’s just say I preemptively boycotted Yeti last year.

Amen. Nobody can justify a $600 ice chest, unless it’s a prestige purchase.

There’s a business opportunity here. Someone can sell a better product at a lower price at the NRA events under the brand “NOT yeti”...

I’ve never understood all the pickups I see with Yeti stickers on the windows. Really? Brand loyalty to a frikkin’ cooler?

So YETI thinks the people who hate the NRA are more likely to buy their crap, and thus need to be pandered to, than NRA members and those who support them? What genius suit thought that up?

If you need a high-dollar cooler, try Pelican. Better handles, better latches, and, as we now know, a management team with better loyalty to customers than Yeti.

"Lifestyle branding" is all the rage these days. Harley Davidson started doing it years ago and now everyone's following.

Just took a quick look at the company’s financials. Its board needs it’s collective head examined.

Or Yeti just got one or more fat government contracts...

Wonder if there’s a quid pro quo involved...
