However, the NYC FBI may have expected a re-possession of sorts would be commandeered, and if so, someone must have made copies, or on the sly brought Rudy in at the time, as a former US Attorney to let him view or make copies???
Surely not, but something is up, if they were not all confiscated, with the computers. Perhaps the story was wrong. Could be that actually they were never taken from NYC FBI.
I thought at the time I read it that the FBI took all that was in their possession.

At the time it was reported that copies were made before handing over. I assume that would be thumb drive type stuff.

REmember Rudy is an expert in cyber security. I’d say they may have consulted with him to get inside any erased material on the hard drive.
