Transcript: James Comey's interview with ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos

JAMES COMEY: That's right. When I became U.S. attorney in Manhattan after 9/11, I inherited from my predecessor, Mary Jo White, an investigation into whether there was any corruption associated with a pardon that President Clinton had given to a fugitive named Marc Rich and his codefendant, Pincus Green.

These were guys who had been charged with a massive tax fraud case and-- and trading with the enemy and had fled to Switzerland and had been there for many years. And President Clinton, on his way out the door, pardoned them, which was extraordinary.

Actually, I've never heard of another case where a fugitive from justice was pardoned. And so the F.B.I. and the U.S. attorney's office were investigating were there promised contributions made to the Clinton Library or something else to secure that pardon. And so as the new boss in Manhattan, I oversaw that.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: And what you found?

JAMES COMEY: Concluded there was not sufficient evidence to bring any charges in that case. And so we closed it.

Never advanced to DOJ. Another "fix" like the secret server exoneration. No wonder Comey thought this was normal practice, it was (maybe still is) normal practice.

"No reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case."

I've heard THAT song before.

Yes Rudy G. got the conviction on tax evasion. Then Comey took over the investigation, and slow walked it and came up just a little short of evidence to charge - standard for him.

Marc Rich did make a huge contribution to the CF, but I’m not sure of the time frame. Marc Rich was buying embargoed oil from Gaddafi, and selling it on spot market. He ran it through that bank, bought drugs and arms and sold them. Pay offs to Clinton and Gaddafi.

Comey took government documents from a government computer.
Comey's "friend" from academia received the government documents from Comey, and the "friend" gave the stolen government documents to the media, or at the very least read the documents to a reporter on the phone.
The media dutifully published the contents of the documents.
The "friend" morphs into Comey's personal attorney to seal off any additional information, based on attorney-client privilege.
The release of documents (or at least the content of the documents) led to appointing an old Comey cohort (Mueller) as Special Counsel to investigate the President with an unlimited staff, unlimited budget, and seemingly unlimited scope. The unwritten intent if Mueller's scope is to provide data for oppo research for the 2018 and 2020 elections, and to act as the basis for impeachment, and no other legal purpose.

Questions:
Why isn't Comey under arrest?
Was Comey's "friend" actually Comey's attorney at the time of the exchange of documents to the media?
Based on the timing, can the DoJ pierce the attorney-client privilege since none existed when the current attorney was simply Comey's "friend" according to Comey's testimony in front of Congress?
Why hasn't Comey and his "friend" had their homes, offices, cars, cabins, vacation homes, and recent hotel rooms raided by the FIBs, and take into evidence every phone, cell phone computer, server, tablet, smart-phone, calendar, every scrap of paper, and diaries?
