Well, I will admit I am not the most knowledgable about Saudi’s as others here may be.
Considering the sources cited and reading between the lines, I’d say I would not trust a word of it.
I’m still trying to figure out why we are pals with the Saudi’s considering they fund terrorists as much or more than anyone. They just happen to smile and make nice with us while they are doing it because the want to make deals for weapons with our government.
I mean in theory we don’t need their oil at this point, right?
Feel free to try to change my mind.

Great, just great, we have killed the thread.
It starts with Trump foreign policy strategy / policy. Much more expansive than I will express here. In simple terms, he goes to an adversary, China, Russia, and in this case Saudi Arabia. He finds a common ground. In this case the common ground is an enemy . . . Iran.
Saudis as you know hate Iran much much more than they hate Israel and and the feeling is mutua Iran towards Saudi. So Trump has figured out Iran is the greater threat. It has long been believed, Iran was the key to peace in the middle east. Take care of them first, the rest will fall in place.
So lets start there and he goes to Saudi first and builds a bridge.
Interestingly, due to my work, I happened to know that Saudi and Israel were starting to work together before Trump. They all have a common enemy or greater threat. and that is Iran
Also, I believe, that the new leader of Saudi is a man of his word and he truly wants change for his country.
One reason we are pals = Petro Dollar - Keeps the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Another is Aramco Check out the history of Aramco Oil - Formed initially with Standard Oil.

Mohammed bin Salman is a totally different man than his predecessors.
Wictor has done incredible threads about S.Arabia and the revolution it has undergone. Sundance had some great articles, too. It’s a long story and just remember Trump visiting S.A. and the reception he had. Unlike any other reception for a US president or maybe any head of state. I also agree that WaPo is 100% unreliable, it is Bezo’s personal propaganda machine.
