Democratic strategists are seeing a new reason for optimism about the midterms: soaring ratings for liberal-leaning MSNBC.
Fox News and CNN both lost viewers from the first quarter of 2017 to the first quarter of 2018 dropping 16 percent and 13 percent, respectively as did pretty much every major cable network, according to Nielsen. MSNBC, on the other hand, surged to a 30 percent gain in the same period.
While Fox News held its standing as cable TVs No. 1 network both for total day and prime time, MSNBC finished second in both categories, enthusing Democrats who see the rise of the network powered by the liberal commentary of star host Rachel Maddow not just as a reflection of energy within their base, but as a tool to help candidates in the coming elections.
You saw all the money that Doug Jones was able to raise online in his successful Senate race in Alabama, said Democratic strategist Pete Giangreco. A lot of that comes from people watching MSNBC and saying, 'Oh, this is an important race to me.' Same thing with Conor Lamb, winner of last months special election in Pennsylvanias 18th Congressional District.

This echos “Hillary’s going to win the election”.....
Were #2 Were #2 Were #2
OK.
Works for me.
In other words, a lot of people like being lied to.
Some freepers watch her for kicks and inadvertently up her ratings.
I don’t care much for TV these days...
Rachel Maddow, I mean*
Going from 10 viewers to 14 is HUUGE. This sh1t cracks me up.
Everybody, even conservatives, look to watch a freak show, and MSNBC is the “freak show of all freak shows”.
More popcorn for Aisle 9, please.
People denying evidence of a blue wave are in denial at this point. They’ve flipped at least 40 seats in special elections, these numbers for liberal outlets are good, and they have big numbers at marches. The Republicans are rolling over like it’s all over. Why do you think so many are quitting? I don’t know what the easy answer is, but the RNC needs to get Republicans out to vote.
LoL!
30% of nothing is still nothing.
This a very misleading article. Quoteing statistics is always decieving. Whe one network is dominating it is to be expected that its numbers will fluctuate. MSNBC is at the bottom and it takes very little to up their percentages....but they are still far behind,

Numbers don’t lie!!!
Not really.
Hillary had to run against MAGA. The Democrats cannot beat MAGA.
They CAN, however, beat Republicans, whose only platform is passive resistance to MAGA and the hope that things will go back to the way they were before.
It's going to be an epic wipeout, and boy, do they deserve it.
That certainly may be true but just listening the Democrats talking about gun control alone should mobilize the base.
Sometimes people get bored with regular news and decide they want to watch a good dumpster fire.
Correct...percentage of increase is not the way to gauge this. All it means is they’ve gathered more of the Trump-haters.
It’s called confirmation bias. Enraged liberals who think Hillary deserved the win or just outright hate President Trump will watch to confirm their “beliefs”.
