Note the whining and drama in a lot of kids today. Especially the nearly lawless girls out there, but boys as well. Communicate by bitching together.
No problem solving skills in sight.
Another factor is daycare from birth and latch key kids after school.
We have begged for some of this trouble. Mom careening... er,... careering in her work life, over her home life. Kids pay the bill.
I worked when mine were little but between health issues and getting laid off havee been unemployed for years.
I think it was a good thing.
I had time to learn what goes on from sources other than legacy media and spent a lot of time countering the bs they were taught in school.
They are good kids. My son is up and out. My daughter will graduate in another year. Both of them thought for themselves, stayed out of trouble, got good grades.
My daughter worries me though. She is so disgusted with school she’s talking about enlisting right away. I think she should take some accounting classes or something and just kind of float a year or two until she figures it out.
That didn’t work so good for me though, so maybe she’s right.
I will hate to see her go. She’s a young lady but all I see when I look at her is my little girl.
I do think moms need to really be available for their kids.
It really does make a difference.
YUP.
I cant say I disagree with your thoughts on this, Id only say that one might be cautious using a broad brush. Ive seen and known plenty who worked and the kids were out of the house with sitters/daycare, and these kids I know are some the brightest and most productive. I realize there are exceptions to every rule, and am saddened by societys lack of family values.
