Funny thing. Back in 2001, I pitched to my wife that I should write a code whereby a WiFi owner could send info to any phone within it range and simultaneously block the public system.
Captive audience for people in a big box store. As you go from department to department (aisle to aisle) the in-store system would send you coupons for items in THAT aisle or give you info on sale items.
Wife said it wouldn’t make any money because the customers would reject the intrusion.

I hear you in 1998 I worked for pax TV we got bought by NBC, I told the president Jeff sagansky we should make a TV game show people could go online and answer the questions too and win prizes, he said “ who watches TV while they’re on the computer”?
